The Security Project Manager oversees and delivers complex security-related projects within the government sector. This role requires a deep understanding of security technologies, project management methodologies, and government regulations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful project delivery, strong communication skills, and a commitment to excellence in security. The Security Project Manager will also conduct security audits and write security policies. This role requires a deep understanding of security standards, auditing methodologies, and policy development.

The Security Project Manager will also conduct security audits and write security policies. This role requires a deep understanding of security standards, auditing methodologies, and policy development.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation. Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Technical Expertise: Possess a deep understanding of security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption, and access control. Stay up to date on emerging security threats and best practices.
- Government Regulations: Ensure compliance with government security regulations and standards, such as NIST, FISMA, and HIPAA. Advise clients on security requirements and best practices.
- Security Audits: Conduct security audits to assess the effectiveness of security controls and identify vulnerabilities. Develop audit plans, collect evidence, and report findings to stakeholders.
- Security Policies: Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures that align with government regulations and best practices. Ensure that policies are communicated and understood by all relevant personnel.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage project teams, including cross-functional teams and external vendors. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.
- Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate project status and progress to stakeholders, including clients, executives, and team members. Build strong relationships with stakeholders and address their concerns.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in security project management within the government sector.
- Four years of additional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree (for example, a Program Manager who does not have a baccalaureate degree must have 11 years of experience).
- A postgraduate degree in a computer science field is acceptable instead of a bachelor's degree.
- Each postgraduate degree or certificate may be substituted for one (1) year of experience (for example, one relevant postgraduate degree and one postgraduate certificate may be substituted for two years of experience).
- PMP certification.
- Tier 3 certification required, (CISSP certification preferred).
- Proven track record of successful project delivery, including on-time, on budget, and within scope.
- Strong understanding of security technologies and best practices.
- Experience conducting security audits and assessing the effectiveness of security controls.
- Experience developing and implementing security policies within a government or regulated environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Experience with agile project management methodologies.
- Knowledge of cloud security and virtualization.
- Experience with security incident response and disaster recovery.
- CISSP certification preferred.
- CISM certification
- Certifications such as CCSP, CEH, or Security+
